Major/ Minor Degree Programme

Future Skills

The Major/Minor Degree Programme includes a ‘Future Skills’ module area worth 20 LP, which is integrated into the respective major subject. The ‘Future Skills’ area enables students, regardless of their chosen major subject, to select from a wide range of optional modules to develop interdisciplinary skills in line with their own profile.

These cross-disciplinary skills enable students to remain self-reliant, community-minded, critical, open-minded, adaptable and capable of taking action in an increasingly complex and dynamic world. They form the basis for practical competence in future professional contexts, as they are relevant across all sectors of the labour market, constantly present new and complex challenges due to rapid change, and are inadequately covered by traditional course content. They thus enable students to develop solutions in a self-organised manner and remain capable of taking action, even in unforeseen and complex situations.

Students are free to choose from a wide range of subjects, from foreign language skills, through digital and subject-specific skills (such as information visualisation), to interdisciplinary skills (such as project management).

You can find the full list of future skills modules here.

Note on the recommended enrolment period:

According to the standard programme of study, Future Skills modules are taken in all major subjects except Critical Media Design in the 5th and 6th semesters, with two modules (10 ECTS) per semester. A different recommendation applies to Critical Media Design: here, enrolment is scheduled to begin as early as the 3rd semester, with one module (5 ECTS) per semester.

However, as part of your individual study plan, you may also take these courses flexibly in other semesters.
